HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02262013 - C.35RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Librarian, or designee, to apply for and accept a grant in the amount of $500 from Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association to provide materials and services for the period of April 1, 2013 through November 30, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: No library fund match. BACKGROUND: Founded in 1980, the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) was incorporated in Illinois in 1981 and formally affiliated with the American Library Association (ALA) in 1982. The receipt of this grant will enable the Hercules Library to hire the Kapwa Dance Ensemble to perform at the Library in celebration of Philippine Independence Day. Portions of the grant funds will also be used to purchase children’s Library materials about the Philippines and notable Filipinos. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the funds are not awarded then the program will not occur and materials will not be purchased.
