HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02262013 - C.03RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Public Works Director, to execute a purchase order with Volvo Construction Equipment and Services, in an amount not to exceed $112,000, for the purchase of a new 2013 Volvo DD70HF Dual Drum Asphalt Roller for Public Works Road Maintenance, Countywide. (100% Local Road Funds) FISCAL IMPACT: 100% funded by local road funds. BACKGROUND: This piece of equipment replaces one that was sold 6-8 months ago due to the need for costly repairs. Public Works Maintenance crews use this type of equipment to compact roadway shoulders, base material, and asphalt paving throughout the County. This equipment will be assigned to the West County Road Crew. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The inability to maintain roads and shoulders. It is difficult to rent this type of equipment; you have to rent during months it can’t be used so it can be reserved.
