ATTESTED: February 12, 2013 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Carrie Del Bonta, Deputy cc: C. 22 To:Board of Supervisors From:David Twa, County Administrator Date:February 12, 2013 Contra Costa County Subject:APPOINTMENT TO THE CONTRA COSTA COMMISSION FOR WOMEN BACKGROUND: The Commission for Women was established to identify major economic, educational, and social concerns of women in Contra Costa County, and to reach and inform all women on a variety of issues. The Commission consists of 26 members: one member from each Supervisorial District, 20 At-Large members, and 1 Alternate At-Large member. The Internal Operations Committee reviews nominations to the 20 At-Large and one Alternate-At Large seats. Terms for all Commission seats are three years. The Family and Human Services Committee was scheduled to meet in February to discuss the two recommended re-appointments. However, that meeting was cancelled and the applications could not be reviewed. Due to timing, the fact that these individuals are currently serving and recommended by the Contra Costa Commission for Women for re-appointment, and the need to fill the positions expeditiously, the recommendations are being forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for review. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The seats will remain vacant and the Commission may not be able to meet. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None. ATTACHMENTS Request Memo Reed Application Hynes Application
