HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02052013 - C.31RECOMMENDATION(S):
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21235 to add three (3) Medical Social Workers - Project (X4V2) in the
Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action would result in a total annual cost of $335,795.00 associated with adding three positions of
Medical Social Workers. These positions are funded 100% through the Ryan White Part A.
BACKGROUND:
The AIDs Program currently has three (3) temporary MSW I positions. The temporary positions were developed as a
stop-gap measure to ensure HIV case management services following the loss of 2 Community Based Organizations
(CBOs) (a combined 5 FTE case managers). The service has been put out to bid twice in the past year and the
department has been unable to locate a CBO with the capabilities to assume these three (3) positions funded by the
Ryan White Care Act. The department is approaching the maximum number of hours for some of the temporary staff
positions.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
There is insufficient community capacity to do this work. If this action is not approved, HIV Case Management
Services will be reduced and will experience a negative impact.
