SUBJECT: RESIGNATION FROM PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
1) ACKNOWLEDGE receipt of the resignation of Richard Janssen, representing
small business on the Private Industry Council of Contra Costa County (PIC);
2) ISSUE a Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Janssen for his services to
the Council;
3) REFER this Business Category vacancy to the Internal Operations Committee
for appointment consideration of business nominations submitted by the
Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce, for a term ending September 30, 1988.
BACKGROUND:
Due to ill health, Mr. Janssen has submitted a letter of resignation from the
PIC (attached). Mr. Janssen has been a member of the PIC since October 2, 1984.
Staff recommends an appointment to this category for the remainder of the
unexpired term ending September 30, 1986 plus an additional two year term ending
September 30, 1988.
In accordance with the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) Legislation, Section
102 (22) (f) "any vacancy in the membership of the Council shall be filled in
the same manner as the original appointment." Therefore the appointment to the
business category must be selected from a single list of nominations submitted
by the County Chambers of Commerce. As with the initial PIC appointment
process, the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce has agreed to receive nominations
from other County Chambers and compile a single list of nominations for
consideration by the Internal Operations Committee. The County Chambers of
Commerce will be notified of this vacancy and the appropriate nomination
process.
