APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to amend the contract with John Meyers for
helicopter services, to allow for reimbursement of miscellaneous expenses and to compensate for unscheduled pilot
services, with no change in the contract dollar amount and no change in the contract term.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
On June 26, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved the contract with John Meyers to provide pilot services for the
Sheriff’s helicopters. The approved contract amount is $300,000, for the term July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2014.
The helicopter program is an integral element of effective law enforcement operations, providing enhanced patrol,
surveillance, and search and rescue capabilities. Continuation of the helicopter program hinges on the services
provided under this contract. The amendment of the contract will not change the payment limit nor the term of the
contract. The amendment will allow for reimbursement of miscellaneous expenses and to provide for the ability to
compensate for unscheduled pilot services.
