Approve and Authorize the Purchasing Agent to execute a purchase order with Dell Computers, on behalf of the
Library, in an amount not to exceed $190,000 between January 20, 2013 and June 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funds are in the Library's FY 2012/2013 budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Library maintains over 580 computers through its 26 community library locations, with 201 computers that are
six and seven years old, far exceeding their lifetime recycle schedule. In order to support community library service
needs of providing free computer access to the Internet and other software, and to upgrade to the Windows 7
operating system and the Internet Explorer 9 web browser to improve the performance of web technology and quality
of web typography, the Library will purchase 201 new computers to replace the aging hardware and software.
