BACKGROUND: The Commission for Women was established to identify major economic, educational, and social concerns of women in Contra Costa County, and to reach and inform all women on a variety of issues. The Commission consists of 26 members: one member from each Supervisorial District, 20 At-Large members, and 1 Alternate At-Large member. The Internal Operations Committee reviews nominations to the 20 At-Large and one Alternate-At Large seats. Supervisor Uilkema is pleased to recommend Ms. Carney to serve on the Contra Costa Commission for Women. She is a long time volunteer in the Lamorinda Community and Supervisor Uilkema feels she will be a positive addition to the Commission. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The District II Seat will remain vacant. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None.
