FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: Dr. Michael Zwerdling’s term as District II Commissioner of the First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission expired on September 11, 2012. Supervisor Andersen met with Dr. Zwerdling, who indicated that he could only serve as District II Commissioner until December 31, 2012. On September 11, 2012, the Board of Supervisors voted to reappoint Dr. Michael Zwerdling to the District II Seat of the First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission with a term expiring on December 31, 2012. First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission’s bylaws state that all appointments are required to be for three year terms except to fill term vacancies. Since Dr. Zwerdling’s reappointment was for a term less than three years, the September 11, 2012 board order is being rescinded. Dr. Zwerdling will continue to serve as a commissioner until a successor is appointed.
