HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09301986 - X.5 xs THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of: ) Opposition to ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/ 577 Proposition 61. ) WHEREAS Propositon 61 will appear on the November, 1986 ballot; and WHEREAS the independent Legislative Analyst has reported that passage of Proposition 61 could cost California taxpayers $7 billion; and WHEREAS the arbitrary salary limits set by Proposition 61 would make it virtually impossible for California to compete in the international marketplace for technical and managerial skills; and WHEREAS Proposition 61 would prevent state and local governments from continuing to contract with private business where contracts exceed $75 per hour or two years in length which would severely limit local government' s ability to respond to emergencies like aerial firefighting, flood repair, and toxic clean-up; and WHEREAS Proposition 61 would unfairly prevent all public employees from accumulating sick leave and vacation time from one year to the next; and WHEREAS over 100 statewide organizations including the County Supervisors Association of California have joined together to oppose Proposition 61; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA joins with the largest coalition in California history in opposing Proposition 61. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 30th day of September, 1986.
