HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12042012 - C.107RECOMMENDATION(S):
REFER to the Internal Operations Committee of the Board of Supervisors the development of a policy that directs the
Board of Supervisors' advisory bodies with respect to the retention and destruction of records generated and
maintained by these bodies, as recommended by the County Administrator.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact to the County resulting from this action.
BACKGROUND:
Over the years, the County has received inquiries from its various advisory bodies to the Board of Supervisors
regarding the issue of record retention and destruction. County Counsel advises that a policy on which documents
advisory bodies must retain and authorization for destruction of those documents that do not need to be maintained
should be developed. Since this matter is the purview of the Internal Operations Committee, a referral of this to the
IO Committee is in order.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without the referral of this matter to the IO Committee, the Committee will not have an opportunity to review the
development of the policy and discuss it at the Committee level.
