HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12042012 - C.68RECOMMENDATION(S): 1) Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to accept on behalf of the County, Grant Award #28-839 from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, an Educational Institution, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $7,500, for the National Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Program, for the period from September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2013; and 2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to purchase, on behalf of the Health Services Department Family and Maternal Child Health Program, Target Gift Cards to use as incentives for maternal interviews, in the amount of $125.00 (5 cards @ $25.00/ea). FISCAL IMPACT: Acceptance of this Grant Award will result in an amount not to exceed $7,500 from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, for the Family and Maternal Child Health for the National Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Program. No County match required. The project promotes health equity by reducing African American fetal and infant mortality in Contra Costa County. The goal of the project is to incorporate life course theory in to the Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Process. Perinatal service providers in East and West Contra Costa County will also gain knowledge and skills about the fetal infant mortality review process, life course theory and inter-conception care guidelines. Approval of Grant Award #28-839 will allow the County to receive funds for the implementation of the National Fetal and Infant Mortality project through August 31, 2013. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this grant is not approved, the County will not receive funding to support the activities for the reducing African American Fetal and Infant Mortality project in Contra Costa County.
