APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to execute a memorandum of understanding
between the County and the Town of Danville for the use of the Town of Danville Veterans Memorial Building to
provide an office for staff of the Veterans Service Department in which to see clients, effective November 1, 2012
until terminated by either party.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None. This is a no cost agreement.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Veterans Service Office provides assistance to the men and women who served in the
Armed Forces of America, their dependents and survivors, and the general public, in obtaining benefits from the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DOD), California Department of Veterans Affairs
(CDVA), and other programs for veterans and their families.
Services are currently provided in Martinez Monday through Friday, in Richmond on Tuesdays, and in Brentwood on
Thursdays. This agreement allows services to be provided in the Town of Danville on Wednesdays by

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
providing an office location at the Veterans Memorial Building. Staff from the Martinez office currently travel to
Danville to serve clients. The Town of Danville will be providing our staff the use of an office at the Veterans
Memorial Building to meet with clients on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. The office is being provided at
no cost to the County.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Veterans in the Town of Danville and the surrounding areas will need to travel further in order to obtain services.
