APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Public Works Director, to execute an
amendment to Purchase Order No. 30426 with County Asphalt, to increase the payment limit by $800,000, to a new
payment limit of $1,650,000, for asphalt and asphalt products, and extend the term from October 1, 2009 through
September 30, 2013, Countywide. (Project Numbers 0672-6U2103, 0672-6U2104, 0672-6U2105, 0672-6U2107 and
0672-6U2123) (100% Local Road Funds)
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% local road funds.
BACKGROUND:
Public Works Road Maintenance maintains over 600 miles of roads in Contra Costa County. To do so requires tons
of asphalt. As bid on Bidsync #0907-009, County Asphalt was awarded this commodity. The original purchase was
for two years with three possible one-year extensions. This request represents the second of three possible one-year
extensions.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this agreement is not approved, then purchasing asphalt and asphalt products from County Asphalt will
discontinue.
