AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Public Works Director, to execute an increase of $90,000 to
Purchase Order No. 41484 with Tri American to $180,000, and extend the termination date from December 31, 2012
to December 31, 2013, for hot applied crack sealant and detack solution for Public Works Road Maintenance,
Countywide. (Project No. 0672-6U2106) (100% Local Road Funds)
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% local road funds.
BACKGROUND:
These materials are used by Public Works Maintenance crews to preserve the existing County road infrastructure by
filling cracks in the pavement to prevent water intrusion. The detack solution is sprayed on freshly filled cracks to
prevent the hot crack seal material from sticking to the tires of vehicles driving through the work site. This has been
part of the County's Pavement Preservation Program for 30+ years. Purchase Order No. 41484 includes the option to
exercise 12-month extension(s) per terms of Bid #1111-006 on BidSync.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Deteriorating pavements resulting in more costly treatments and repair strategies.
