HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11062012 - C.43RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Grant Agreement #28-835 (#1018341) with the Public Health Institute, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $155,000 for the Contra Costa Community Transformation Grant, Richmond Tap Water Project, for the period from August 15, 2012 through August 14, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: This Agreement, funded by the Public Health Institute, will result in $155,000 for the Contra Costa Community Transformation Grant, Richmond Tap Water Project. (No Count Match required) BACKGROUND: The Public Health Institute is the recipient of funds from the California Endowment for support and coordination of statewide healthy community transformation learning, to: facilitate capacity building, strategic interventions, and policy advocacy to prevent chronic diseases through collaboration among community transformation grant awardees and other entities statewide. The City of Richmond has some of the most dramatic health disparities in Contra Costa. Under Grant Agreement 28-835, this project will increase awareness among low-income residents about the health benefits of drinking tap water, and where drinking water is available in the community, through August 14, 2013. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, the County will not receive the funding for the Community Transformation Grant, Richmond Tap Water Project.
