HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11062012 - C.38RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Interim Director, or designee, to accept funding not to exceed $4,000 from the California Health Advocates for the Senior Medicare Patrol Volunteer Liaison for the period October 1, 2012 through August 31, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: County to receive $4,000 from California Health Advocates. No County match. All Districts. BACKGROUND: California Health Advocates will provide funding to the Employment and Human Services Department, Health Insurance and Advocacy Program (HICAP) for a Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Volunteer Liaison who will focus on outreach and education regarding prevention and reporting of Medicare fraud. The funding will be used to support the SMP Volunteer Liaison primarily for the purposes of data collection, monitoring, and reporting consumer inquiries; volunteer recruitment, outreach and training, retention and support; community education, outreach and training; and fraud prevention activities. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without authorization to accept California Health Advocates funding, the Senior Medicare Patrol Volunteer Liaison services would not be funded.
