HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11062012 - C.37RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2012/445 to approve and authorize the Employment and Human Services Interim Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment (HI-1213-07, Amendment 1) with California Department of Aging to increase the contract payment limit by $58,695 to a new limit not to exceed $364,032 and approve the corresponding adjusted budget to provide Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) services with no change in the term of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: County to receive $364,032 (includes Amendment 1 increase amount of $58,695) from California Department of Aging, Agreement HI-1213-07, Amendment 1. (48% federal, 52% State) (No County match) BACKGROUND: The Employment and Human Services Department , Area Agency on Aging, provides Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) services to Medicare beneficiaries, including Medicare beneficiaries by virtue of a disability, and those persons imminent of Medicare eligibility as defined by Welfare and Institutions Code (W&I) sections 9541 (a) and (c)(2) and to APPROVE OTHER RECOMMENDATION OF CNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE Action of Board On: 11/06/2012 APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED OTHER Clerks Notes: VOTE OF SUPERVISORS AYE:John Gioia, District I Supervisor Candace Andersen, District II Supervisor Mary N. The amendment increasing funds will allow additional HICAP service delivery. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without approval for additional funding, HICAP services cannot be increased.
