APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Interim Director, or designee, to accept funding
from the California Department of Education for facilities renovation and repair in an amount not to exceed $198,214
for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015.

BACKGROUND:
On October 10, 2012 the Department was notified by the California Department of Education of one-time funding
available to the County for Child Development program facility renovations and repairs. The State has awarded
$198,214 to be used during the budget period of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015 for facility renovations.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Approval of this agreement will allow the Department to complete facility renovations at various County operated
facilities.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, County will not receive funds to completed necessary facility repairs.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa
County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families
that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These
outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
