Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to accept on behalf of the County, Grant Award
#28-837 (#20626487) from Kaiser Permanente, in the amount of $25,000, for the Prenatal Care Now Project in the
East and Central County communities, for the period from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of this Grant Award will result in an amount of $25,000 from Kaiser Permanente for the County’s
Prenatal Care Now Project in the East and Central County communities. No County match required.
BACKGROUND:
The Kaiser Permanente, Community Benefit –Diablo Area has granted funds to County in support of Contra Costa
County Health Services Department programs serving low-income pregnant women who are eligible for MediCal and
in need of prenatal care. The goals of the project are to provide case management for MediCal eligible pregnant
women and track their health coverage, including the babies they deliver as well as raising awareness about
Presumptive Eligibility (PE) MediCal throughout the African American and Hispanic communities, and to agencies
that provide services to these populations, through June 30, 2013.
