ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21182 to add one (1) Deputy Public Defender IV (25TA (represented)
position at salary level ($9,352 - $11,367) in the Public Defender's Office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approximately $200,000 annually, $133,333 in fiscal year 2012/13. The projected, county pension costs for this
position are $46,350 annually, $33,900 in fiscal year 2012/13; 100% County General Fund. A separate appropriation
adjustment has been submitted on the consent calender to fund this position.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Defender's Office is requesting a staff augmentation of 1.0 FTE Deputy Public Defender IV position. The
additional position will allow the department to effectively provide mandated criminal defense services to citizens
accused of crimes in Contra Costa County.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The additional position will not be added to the Public Defender's Office. If this action is not approved, the
department will not have appropriate staff levels for criminal defense services to citizens of crimes in the County.
