BACKGROUND:
The mission of the Contra Costa County Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board is to assess family and
community needs regarding treatment and prevention of alcohol and drug abuse problems. They report their findings
and recommendations to the Contra Costa Health Services Department, the Board of Supervisors and the
communities

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

The Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board works in collaboration with the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services
Division of Contra Costa Health Services. They provide input and recommendations as they pertain to alcohol and
other drugs prevention, intervention, and treatment services.
Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 3:45 - 6:15 p.m., and are open to the public.
Supervisor Mitchoff recruits for her advisory body seats in numerous ways including notices on the County website
and press releases. All eligible candidates were interviewed and Supervisor Mitchoff chose to appoint Mr. Leonardo
Martinez.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this appointment is not made, there will be a lack of representation on the Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory
Board.
