HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10162012 - C.71RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute, a Purchase Order with NEXUS IS Inc., in an amount not to exceed $330,000, for purchase of hardware and licenses for Epic Electronic Health Records at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. FISCAL IMPACT: This purchase is fully paid for from (a) the Medicare & Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and (b) the Delivery System Reform and Incentive Pool (DSRIP) funding. BACKGROUND: Nexus IS, Inc's EMC Storage and Backup System currently holds data for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers' Epic Electronic Health Records (EHR) System. To successfully continue supporting and backing up Epic data, we need to expand our current storage infrastructure as data load increases. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: We are in a critical capacity situation with respect to the EMC Storage and Backup System for the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers' Epic EHR system. Resulting delays could cause loss of data, patient safety, and compliance issues.
