HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10162012 - C.52RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21171 to add two (2) Deputy Probation Officer III (7ATA) (represented) positions at salary level PP5 1574 ($5,007.29 - $6,086.39) in the Probation Department. FISCAL IMPACT: Effective October 1, 2012, the Contra Costa County Administrator's Office was awarded the FY 12 Second Chance Act Adult Offender Reentry Program for Planning and Demonstration Projects and Implementation Projects in the amount of $750,000. Included in the funding are personnel and fringe costs for two Deputy Probation Officers in the amount of $290,480. There is no financial impact to County General Funds. BACKGROUND: In March of 2011, after several years of significant collaborative effort, the Board of Supervisors accepted and approved the strategic plan and implementation recommended to establish a network of prisoner re-entry services in Contra Costa County, and further directed the County Administrator to work with the offices of Supervisors Glover and Gioia to identify the resources needed to implement the strategic plan. One component of this program requires two Deputy Probation Officers to identify 100 moderate/high-risk clients annually, develop transitional plans and work as part of a reentry team to reduce recidivism by offenders. The Probation Department seeks to create these positions. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to create these positons will result in the County being out of compliance with the grant requirements as agreed to when the award was accepted.
