HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10162012 - C.51RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21174 to add two (2) Deputy Probation Officer III ( 7ATA) (represented) positions at salary level PP5 1574 ($5,007.29-$6,086.39) in the Probation Department. FISCAL IMPACT: The FY2012/2013 state budget has allocated approximately $19,000,000 in AB 118 funds to Contra Costa County for the 2011 Public Safety Realignment Act (AB 109). The Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) has approved the funding of two additional Deputy Probation Officer positions. Salary and benefits for FY12/13 total $207,746 plus one-time expenditure of $48,878 for one vehicle and personal equipment for each officer. Ongoing annual salary and benefit costs total $270,746. BACKGROUND: The Board of Supervisors approved the Contra Costa County Community Corrections Partnership Committee (CCP) on October 4, 2011. The CCP develops each years spending plan for the public safety realignment funds received. The costs include salary & benefit costs ($270,746), annual operating costs ($6,408) and one-time expense ($48,878) which includes the purchase of one vehicle plus personal equipment (radio, vest, handcuffs, badge, computer and cell phone) for each officer. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the additional staffing request is not approved, the current Deputy Probation Officers assigned to the AB109 Public Safety Realignment program will be carrying very large case loads of the more serious offenders.
