HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10162012 - C.50RECOMMENDATION(S):
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21175 to increase the hours of one (1) Probation Counselor II (7KVB)
(represented) position #874 from part time (24/40) to full time at salary level ($4,411 - $5,361) in the Probation
Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an additional annual cost of $60,822 to be funded within the Probation
Department Budget through avoidance of overtime expenses.
BACKGROUND:
Probation Counselor II Position #874 is assigned to the Probation Department's Orin Allen Youth Rehabilitation
Facility, a 24-hour facility. This part time position is currently vacant. Recent staffing reductions for budgetary
reasons have required vacant single shifts be filled with temporary staff members and making this a full time shift
pattern will decrease the use of temporary or overtime staff. This is the only part time shift in the Probation
Department.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the Probation Department will need to pay staff overtime to provide proper coverage on
the graveyard shift.
