APPROVE Appropriation and Revenue Adjustment 5017 in the amount of $301,753 for the furnishing and
installation of casework by Systems & Space, Inc. This work is part of the remodeling project for the
Sheriff-Coroner's Office, Forensic Division, at 2530 Arnold Drive, Martinez, California.
The contract to perform was approved by the Board of Supervisors on August 9, 2011. This appropriation provides
for the funding as described and approved.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$260,565 is funded by Proposition 69 - Fund 115600 and $41,188 is funded by Cal-ID - Org. 2557.
BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff-Coroner's Forensic Division (Crime Lab) is relocating from 1122 Escobar Street in Martinez to the
Summit Center located at 2530 Arnold Drive in Martinez. The cost for furnishing and installation of the specialized
casework for the remodeling project is $369,232. The casework is purchased using an existing contract under the
California Multiple Award Schedules

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
(CMAS) Program, and includes all labor and materials costs. The CMAS Program allows public agencies to
contract directly with a CMAS contractor using prices and contract terms negotiated by the California Department
of General Services. Systems & Space, Inc. is an authorized contractor for State and Local agencies under the
CMAS Program.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The new casework is a necessary element of the Crime Lab remodeling project, as it provides the required
facilities for work completed in a lab environment. Without approval, the project will not have funding for the
contract with Systems & Space, Inc.
