Amend Resolution 71/17 establishing positions and resolutions allocating ,classes to the Basic/ExemptZda Schedule, as described above. M347 6/82 D R A F T Proposed Salary Level : C5-1326 ($1711-2079) Contra Costa County September 1986 DATA PROCESSING DATA ENTRY SHIFT SUPERVISOR DEFINITION: Under limited work direction, to coordinate and review the work of subordinate Data Entry Operators assigned to the Central Data Processing Data Entry Unit on the swing shift; to perform the most complex data entry work; and to perform related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The incumbent of this single-position class functions as a working supervisor responsible for data services for the Central Data Processing Data Entry Unit on the swing shift. This class is distinguished from the class of Coordinator of Data Entry Services in that the latter class has overall program responsibility for Central Data Processing's Data Entry Unit and serves as a liaison with County-wide departmental representatives who use the County's Central Data Entry computer for daily work processing. TYPICAL TASKS: Coordinates the flow of work in and out of Data Entry Unit on the swing shift to assure prompt and accurate processing of work; works with County-wide departmental respresentatives to resolve processing problems; plans, assigns and reviews the work of subordinate Data Entry Operators who enter and verify a wide variety of data; evaluates the performance of subordinate personnel and makes recommendations to superiors in the areas of probationary retention or rejection and annual salary reviews; trains new permanent and temporary personnel ; sets up new jobs and develops new programs as needed; enters and verifies data as needed; maintains production and machine utilization records; may update and/or design minicomputer programs using subsets of COBOL; may prepare cost estimates for contracted data entry services for County departments; may verify and approve billings; may arrange for equipment maintenance; may assist in evaluating potential new equipment; prepares reports and memorandums as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Three years of full-time or its equivalent experience operating data entry equipment, and ability to pass a prescribed performance test on an electronic data entry machine at a rate of not less than 10,000 keystrokes per hour. 1 a 1 KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of the operation of data entry machines and associated equipment; good knowledge of batch and on-line processing; knowledge of the working inter-relationship between a mainframe computer system and departmental work stations; knowledge of general office procedures; ability to operate data entry machines accurately and rapidly at a prescribed performance level ; ability to direct the work of others; ability to provide basic training and guidance to inexperienced workers; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; ability to prepare clear and concise written and statistical reports; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
