ATTESTED: October 16, 2012 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: June McHuen, Deputy cc: C. 27 To:Board of Supervisors From:Julia R. Bueren, Public Works Date:October 16, 2012 Contra Costa County Subject:Fix a Public Hearing date for the Overnight Closure of Carquinez Scenic Drive, Port Costa BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) 2004, the Board of Supervisors approved the temporary overnight closure of Carquinez Scenic Drive, east of the Martinez City Limit, to prevent ongoing criminal activity on that portion of the roadway. With the closure of TXI facility, the western portion of Carquinez Scenic Drive has experienced similar criminal activity. Therefore, the East Bay Regional Park District has requested overnight closure of Carquinez Scenic Drive west of the TXI Operations Facility. The County Public Works Department, Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol support the Park District’s request to temporarily close Carquinez Scenic Drive east of McEwen Road to the existing road closure at the former TXI Operations Facility located at 9000 Carquinez Scenic Drive and recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the Park District’s request. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The East Bay Regional Park District would not be able to close the road at night and illegal activities occurring along the road would continue. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
