BACKGROUND:
The Deputy Director of Animal Services is a single position classification. This position is responsible for assisting in
the overall administration of the Animal Services Department, which includes the oversight of all animal control field
operations county-wide, animal care facility operations for both shelters, and other duties as assigned. This position
also serves as the Acting Director for the Department when the Director of Animal Services is absent. Given the level
of responsibility involved with this classification, along with the fact that the Director of Animal Services
classification is exempt, it is both reasonable and appropriate to exempt the Deputy Director of Animal Services
classification as well.
