APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to donate surplus dispatch radio console equipment
to Shasta County and remove these items from the departmental inventory.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No net County cost.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office Technical Services Division was contacted by the Shasta County Systems
Administrator requesting spare dispatch communications equipment the CCC Sheriff Technical Services was no
longer using. Shasta County was specifically asking to procure Gold Elite radio consoles including the COIM and
three Stat Alert cards to support dispatch operations for Shasta County Sheriff and two other police agencies in their
jurisdiction.
The CCC Office of the Sheriff recently replaced all 27 Gold Elite radio consoles within the Sheriff's Communication
Center with Motorola MCC 7500 radio consoles as part of the upgrade for the EBRCSA-P25 Radio System. Shasta
County will not be transitioning to a digitial radio system for several years, and are therefore requesting spare

parts to continue to support their analog radio system.
The 27 Gold Elite radio consoles and associated equipment was purchased in 1997 and are no longer useable within
the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office Communications Center. Being as such, these consoles have no appreciable
value to the organization and will be marked for disposal. Shasta County is in immediate need of the requested
equipment and would appreciate prompt assistance if possible.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The radio consoles would be surplussed pursuant to current policy.
