APPROVE Appropriation and Revenue Adjustment No. 5006 authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount
of $217,615 from the Sheriff Plant Acquisition Fund (0111) to be distributed as follows: $156,805 to Public Works -
ISF Fleet Services (0064) for the purchase of four Ford Escape Utility Vehicles and equipment, and $60,810 to the
Sheriff Patrol Division (0255) for the purchase of radio equipment for the vehicles.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action increases the appropriation in the Public Works - ISF Fleet Service by $156,805 and Office of the Sheriff
(0255) by $60,810 and reduces appropriations in the Office of the Sheriff Plant Acquisition Fund (0111) by $217,615.
This appropriation was approved in prior year, Fiscal Year 2011 / 2012, however, purchase of assets and related
expenses will occur in Fiscal Year 2012 / 2013.

Subject:Approve Appropriation Adjustment For the Purchase of Additional Ford Escape Utility Vehicles
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
support at the Patrol Station House level in the form of Sheriff's Rangers. These employees will support Patrol
Staff and the community by performing those functions that do not require the assignment of a Deputy Sheriff, as
needed, to accomplish patrol duties effectively and economically. It was determined the vehicle best suited to this
assignment would a be Ford Escape.
The purhase will be funded by the Kinder Morgan settlement money, which was awarded to the Sheriff's Office in
2007. The funds were deposited into the Sheriff Plant Acquisitions Fund.
This action was previously approved by the Board of Supervisors at the June 26, 2012 meeting. The attached
appropriation adjustment is to appropriate the funding for this action in the current fiscal year, 2012/13. The
expense will occur in the current fiscal year.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the funding will not be provided for in the current fiscal year.
