HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09182012 - D.3RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider accepting a report from the Health Services Department on the implementation of ccLink, also known as EPIC, the new electronic medical records system being utilized by the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Clinics. FISCAL IMPACT: None - report only. BACKGROUND: The County Board of Supervisors requested an update regarding the ccLink, the new electronic medical record. This report includes an update on the implementation within the hospital, health centers and detention health systems and will include an overview of implementation process, safety surveillance, system response to challenges to date, and plans for ongoing support. On July 1, 2012, the Department launched an electronic health record system- ccLink- at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers. This state-of-the-art technology from Epic will help the Department to continue providing the highest quality of care for patients. In addition, most prescriptions will be sent from the health care provider directly to the pharmacy. That means shorter waiting times to get medication. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The Board and the public will not be updated on the on-going implementation of the electronic medical records system. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
