APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute a purchase order with CDW
Government, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, in an amount not to exceed $125,000, for the purchase of
Sophos Complete Security software to help protect the County against computer viruses and malware for the period
of October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The whole cost of $125,000 (100% Department User fees) is budgeted under Org 1055 FY 2012/2013 and charged
back to user departments through the DOIT billing process.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will provide DoIT a product that will help to protect the County against computer viruses and malware.
In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No 611.0, County Departments are required to get Board approval for
single item purchases over $100,000. The County Administrator’s Office has reviewed this request and recommends
approval.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Department of Information Technology will not be able to perform the required upgrades necessary to improve
security measures against computer viruses and malware.
