HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09182012 - C.26RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with KCI, Inc., in the amount of $123,405, for the 4 infovac machines for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise Fund I. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC) treats many patients with hard-to-treat wounds. In order to provide the best possible care with the best hope of healing these wounds the hospital employs infovac machines, which apply negative pressure. This has proven to be the most effective way to treat chronic wounds. CCRMC has rented infovac machines from KCI, Inc. for more than ten years. We had been paying $68.22 per machine per day (and the price has increased over the years). Over a two year period the Department spent $119,343.33 to rent infovacs machines. Purchasing four infovac machines of them will result in a considerable savings to the county over the next few years.
