Contra Costa also receives funds from California Department of Education (CDE) to provide State Preschool services to program eligible County residents. The State requires an indemnification clause with County subcontractors wherein the subcontractor holds harmless the State and its officers for any losses. In order to provide a wider distribution of services to County residents, the Department contracts with a number of community-based organizations. Approval of this contract will allow the provision of vital preschool and childcare services to program eligible children in East Contra Costa County. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, County will not be able to more widely distribute childcare availability through partnership with community based agencies. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
