HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09112012 - C.109RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department Interim Director, or designee, to execute a contract with We Care Services for Children in an amount not to exceed $168,739 to provide State Preschool services and authorize a mutual indemnification clause in the contract for the term July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% State funds from the California Department of Education No County match 38-910-4 BACKGROUND: Contra Costa County receives funds California Department of Education (CDE) to provide State Preschool and Pre-kindergarten Family Literacy services to program eligible County residents. The State requires an indemnification clause with County subcontractors wherein the subcontractor holds harmless the State and its officers for any losses. Approval of this contract will allow the provision of State Preschool services to program-eligible children and families in the Central Contra Costa County area. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, County will not be able to more widely distribute childcare availability through partnership with community based agencies. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
