Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26–724 with National Research Corporation (dba NRC Picker), a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $142,075
to provide professional consultation and technical assistance to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center’s (CCRMC)
Chief Executive Officer with regard to patient care satisfaction performance measures and improvement, for the
period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise I funds.
BACKGROUND:
Founded in 1981, National Research Corporation (NRC) has maintained a strong commitment to improving the
quality of healthcare received by patients and consumers through a focus on continual improvement in patient
experience and performance measurement within the healthcare industry. NRC offers the County a methodology to
survey patients regarding inpatient experience, including the Emergency Department patients, and patients receiving
care in eight ambulatory care

Under Contract #26-724, Contractor will provide professional consultation and technical assistance services to
CCRMC’s Chief Executive Officer, with regard to patient care improvement, employee and physician engagement
improvement through measurements, patient satisfaction surveys and membership, through June 30, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the County will not receive necessary technical support and consulting services with
regard to patient care satisfaction and improvement at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers.
