Subject:Approval of Purchase Order with KCI, Inc.
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
to rent these beds, which cost between $60,000 and $100,000 each, than it would be to purchase them outright.
Owning the beds would require CCRMC to clean the beds before and after each use and store the beds off campus,
transporting them to and from the hospital when they are needed. CCRMC would also need to remove the standard
beds and store them off campus until the specialty bed was no longer required. The vendor, KCI, Inc, is a member of
our Novation purchasing group, and as such, extends us the lowest price negotiated available.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the Health Services Department would have to rent specialty beds at a higher cost to
the County, store beds off-site when not needed and pay staff to clean beds after each use.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Not applicable.
