In order for the Department to maintain effective and adequate fiscal operations EHSD/Fiscal Division has determined that an Accountant I level is needed in order to account for these funds. The department is requesting to cancel one Accounting Technician vacant position #00159 and add one Accountant I position in order to assign the required accounting duties. The duties performed by this position will include recording, classifying and analyzing the bulk of EHSD revenues which significantly impact EHSD operations. Other key duties will include reconciliation and analysis of complex trust funds and related financial transactions. With the increasingly complex revenue tracking process, partly prompted by the State's new re-alignment rules, it is critical that the work be performed at the appropriate classification of Accountant. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If an Accountant position is not added the Department will have insufficient fiscal staff and will be seriously hindered in adequately recording, tracking and analyzing the bulk of its revenues and advances claimed from Federal and State agencies.
