RECOM M ENDATION (S):
DECLARE vacant the At Large Seat 9, previously held by Karen Peterson, on the Contra Costa Commission
for Women due to resignation, and DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to post the vacancy.
FISCAL IM PACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Commission for Women was established on February 28, 1989 to identify major economic,
educational and social concerns of women in Contra Costa County, to reach and inform all women on a variety
of issues.
The Commission consists of twenty-six members, one from each Supervisorial District, twenty at-large.
Karen Peterson notified the Contra Costa Commission for Women that she was resigning from the Commission
for personal reasons.

I am sorry to inform you that I must resign from the Board. My duties at EBMUD have shifted and
it will impact my involvement in workforce development. I will be at the next Board meeting, but it
will be the last one that I can attend. I have enjoyed working with you at my time on the Board
and I think you are doing a great job as the director.
