HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08142012 - C.65RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase
Order with Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, LLC, in an amount not to exceed $17,400,000, for the purchase of
pharmaceuticals and related supplies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers
(CCRMC), for the period from September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund.
BACKGROUND:
CCRMC has used Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, LLC as its drug wholesaler for over 20 years. We are satisfied
with them as a vendor and wish to continue our working relationship with this company. Cardinal Health Pharmacy
Services, LLC provides us with 2 different purchasing contracts: Novation for the Hospital and the Public Health
System contract for 340B (federal-ceiling pricing for disproportionate share facilities) for ambulatory care. Having
these 2 contracts maximizes cost savings for the county.

Subject:Approval of Purchase Order with Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, LLC
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase Order is not approved, Hospital Pharmacy as well as all Ambulatory Care Pharmacies from within
CCRMC will not be able to receive any drugs from our wholesaler and the results would be devastating for our
patient population, as it is a necessity for the department to continue on receiving medications from Cardinal Health
Pharmacy Services, LLC.
