Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-350-12 with Merritt, Hawkins and Associates, a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $300,000, to provide
recruitment of family practice physicians at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, for the period
from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. No rate increase.
BACKGROUND:
On August 16, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-350-10 (as amended by Amendment
Agreement #26-350-11) with Merritt, Hawkins and Associates, to provide recruitment of family practice physicians
for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers due to on-going vacancies, for the period from July 1,
2011 through June 30, 2012. Contractor’s services shall include, but are not limited to, advertising, screening and
providing reference materials

Approval of Contract #26-350-12 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide recruitment services through June
30, 2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers will continue to have a
shortage of Family Practice Physicians available to provide services to patients.
