APPROVE a License Agreement with the Judicial Council of California, Administrative Office of the Courts,
commencing August 1, 2012, and ending upon a five month termination notice from either party, for 476 square feet
of office space at 1000 Center Drive, Rooms 2082 & 2095, Pittsburg, for occupancy by the District Attorney and the
Public Defender, at a fee of $952.00 per month, under the terms and conditions set forth in the License.
AUTHORIZE the Director of Public Works, or designee, to EXECUTE the License.
The license is not subject to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as there is no potential for direct or
indirect effect.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The license will obligate the County to pay a lump sum payment of $12,376 at the beginning of the license period
and a fee of $952 per month until the License is terminated. Fees will be paid by the General Fund.

Subject:1000 Center Drive, Rooms 2082 & 2095, Pittsburg-License for the District Attorney and the Public Defender.
BACKGROUND:
The new Arnason Justice Center court facility was built to replace the prior court facility in Pittsburg. The District
Attorney and the Public Defender had offices in the prior court facility. With the construction of the new Arnason
Justice Center, the old court facility was closed. The District Attorney and the Public Defender require office
space in the new facility to conduct the County’s court business. The District Attorney and the Public Defender,
on approval by the Judicial Council of California, occupied the office space until a license could be negotiated,
written, and approved by the County and the Judicial Council of California.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the license is not approved, the District Attorney and the Public Defender will not have offices within the new
Arnason Justice Center courthouse which are necessary to conduct the County’s court business.
