FISCAL IMPACT: This action has no fiscal impact. BACKGROUND: The Ambulatory Care Registration Manager is primarily responsible for directing and coordinating ambulatory care registration activities, managing the outpatient and emergency room registration system and the inpatient admissions and communication unit, and supervising registration staff. With recent operational changes, the department has identified the Ambulatory Care Registration Manager classification as the most appropriate to fill the needs of the inpatient registration and staffing office, which was previously led by a Staffing and Patient Care Coordinator. The current need of the inpatient registration and staffing office will be met by an incumbent that APPROVE OTHER RECOMMENDATION OF CNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE Action of Board On: 07/24/2012 APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED OTHER Clerks Notes: VOTE OF SUPERVISORS AYE:Mary N. ATTESTED: July 24, 2012 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Carrie Del Bonta, Deputy cc: Roxana Mendoza, Nicole Lewis-Bolton, Dorette McCollumn C. 33 To:Board of Supervisors From:Ted Cwiek, Human Resources Director Date:July 24, 2012 Contra Costa County Subject:Revise and retitle the classification of Ambulatory Care Registration Manager in the Health Services Department BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) possess similar knowledge, skills and abilities as an incumbent in the Ambulatory Care Registration Manager classification. Therefore, rather than fill the vacant Staffing and Patient Care Coordinator position, the department is requesting to retitle and revise the Ambulatory Care Registration Manager. The retitle and revisions incorporate the specific needs of the inpatient registration and staffing office so that a position can later be added to support this unit. However, these changes do not change the scope of work for the Ambulatory Care Registration Manager nor will they impact the current incumbent. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the department will not have an appropriate classification to recruit and retain a qualified individual that meets the needs of the inpatient registration and staffing office, which will ultimately have a negative impact on patient care, and the maintenance and scheduling of core staffing levels. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable. ATTACHMENTS P-300 #21120
