HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07242012 - C.31RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE Appropriations Adjustment No. 5081 authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount of
$31,261.00 from the Department of Agriculture to Public Works, Fleet Operations to purchase a new motorized
weight cart for the Weights & Measures Program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action will come out of the department's FY 11/12 budget. 100% General Fund.
BACKGROUND:
The motorized weight cart is needed by the Department of Agriculture - Weights and Measures to enable the
Department to perform a proper legal section test mandated by the California Business and Professions Code, section
12210 on heavy capacity weight scales. The correctness of these scales is critical to commerce.
In Contra Costa County there are currently 76 of these scales that are required by the California Code of Regulations
section 4070 to be tested annually. These scales are used to weigh cattle, sand, gravel, scrap metal, recycled and other
bulk materials. Some are also used to determine waste disposal charges for both businesses and private individuals.
