HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07312012 - C.17RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE a Lease with Marine Emporium, Inc., commencing August 1, 2012, and ending July 31, 2013, for 1,100 square feet of office space at 5993 Bethel Island Road, Suite B, Bethel Island, for occupancy by the Sheriff-Coroner, at a one-time fee of $1.00, together with a monthly reimbursement of $75.00 for electricity, under the terms and conditions set forth in the Lease. AUTHORIZE the Director of Public Works, or designee, to EXECUTE the Lease, and to EXERCISE any options to extend the Lease. The lease is not subject to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as there is no potential for direct or indirect effect. The lease automatically renews on a year-to-year basis unless terminated by either party to the lease. (100% General Funds) BACKGROUND: This lease will allow the Sheriff-Coroner to occupy and use this office as a Sheriff’s substation for the Bethel Island patrol area. The lease will also allow the Sheriff-Coroner’s Marine Patrol to moor its marine patrol boats at this location on an intermittent basis. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the lease is not approved, the Sheriff-Coroner will not have use of this office as a Sheriff’s substation for the Bethel Island patrol area, nor will it have use of the dock to moor its marine patrol boats while working in the waterways around Bethel Island and the Delta, and alternate space will have to be found for the Sheriff’s substation.
