APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Public Works Department, to execute a
Purchase Order with Valley Slurry Seal Company, in an amount not to exceed $650,000, for the purchase of
PMCRS-2H (Polymer Modified Cationic Rapid Set), PMRE (Polymer Modified Rejuvenator Emulsion) with SBR
Latex (Styrene-butadiene Rubber), PMRE and excess spread time, for the period from August 1, 2012 to October 31,
2012 (Project Numbers 0672-6U2172, 0672-6U2173 and 0672-6U2175), Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% local road funds.
BACKGROUND:
The placement of chip seal to resurface County roads is a long-established preventative maintenance practice. A chip
seal increases the asphalt pavement life by an extra 7 to 10 years before another surface treatment is needed. This
purchase order is to supply the asphaltic emulsion that is needed for the 2012 Surface Treatment Program. Valley
Slurry Seal Company was selected through Bidsync Bid #1206-002.
