HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06262012 - C.76RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or designee, to execute Agreement #12-73-06-0251-RA with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Wildlife Services in an amount not to exceed $28,323, for wildlife damage management, for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. FISCAL IMPACT: The service contract is shared with San Joaquin County. Contra Costa's share of the service contract ($28,323) is paid with Unclaimed Gas Tax (60%) and County General Fund (40%). BACKGROUND: Efforts will be made by assigned USDA Wildlife Specialist to reduce, terminate, and prevent predation or damage to livestock, crops, and other property caused by birds and mammals. The objective is to provide for wildlife damage management on properties within the County of Contra Costa, State of California. The work will be accomplished using Wildlife Services Specialists (WSS) assigned to work within the County. This is a continuation of an existing program. It involves six (6) staff months of contract work extending over the period of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to accept Agreement #12-73-06-0251-RA will mean that the Department will be unable to afford actions to prevent wildlife damage and take corrective actions on existing wildlife damage problems.
