HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06052012 - C.41RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21099 to add one (1) Accounting Technician (JD7A - Represented) position at salary level 3RX 1236 ($3,623-$4,627) and cancel one (1) Clerk Specialist (JWXD - Represented) position, number #3878, at salary level 3RX-1156 ($3,347-$4,274) in the Public Defender's Office. FISCAL IMPACT: The fiscal impact on the Department's budget is the nominal increase in the salary for the reclassified position versus that of the current position of Clerk Specialist that would be abolished. This amount presents no fiscal concerns within the overall context of the Department's budget FY 2011/12 or the ensuing fiscal year. Salary savings anticipated during the ensuing year will cover the amount of any additional expenditure for this requested reclassification. This has resulted in the need to reallocate administrative responsibilities. Currently, the Department's Administrative Support Division is staffed with two positions: ASO and Lead Clerk Specialist (presently vacant). Due to the complex duties that the Administrative Support Staff presently handles, the Department is requesting to reclassify the Lead Clerk Specialist position to Accounting Technician. The Accounting Technician will provide the department with the knowledge and skill set that is needed to continue to provide services to its three branch offices. This reclassification will help the department maintain accurate financial record keeping in regards to daily transactions as well as assist administrative staff in the preparation of the departmental budget. The Accounting Technician position will absorb all of the duties of the current Lead Clerk Specialist position, which was recently vacated due to a retirement. If this action is approved, it will also abolish the Lead Clerk Specialist position. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved the current (Lead Clerk) position will be unable to meet our departments needs. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: No impact.
